Pillars In Action: Servant Leadership

Over the course of 2017, a group of eight individuals came together to form a hardworking, dedicated and passionate group called the SJH Emerging Leaders.  They have set out to support and share the mission and ministry of the St. Joseph Home community with other young professionals in Greater Cincinnati. Off to a strong start, they have already hosted many successful events.  First, a networking social in the Spring that provided the Emerging Leaders, as well as their colleagues and friends, the opportunity to meet some of the St. Joseph Home residents. Over the Summer, they came to the SJH campus with friends and coworkers to do some volunteering. They detailed the buses, did some gardening, and cleaned the entire Day Program facility. They also received a tour in which they were able to socialize with residents and catch a glimpse of some of the amazing work that happens at St. Joseph Home.

In October the members of the Emerging Leader committee planned, organized and executed an event with a goal to raise money that would provide funding for an EasyStand mobility device. The night was a huge success and some of our younger residents have already experienced physical, as well as, social improvements since beginning to use the EasyStand.

We have come to expect the Emerging Leaders to put on fun events, but we are amazed at how quickly they have been able to engage an entirely new group of people to make a difference in the lives of our residents, respite guests as well as day program participants….and for that, we are so grateful!  The dedication of this group has added so much to the SJH community and we are eagerly watching as they begin a new year.
