Pillars in Action: Community
Today I had the pleasure of going to St. Michael’s parish in Sharonville and spending some time with the school choir. I would like to say I was singing or playing the piano or something incredibly creative like that. But I will leave those skills for the choir itself – who are tremendous! The purpose of my visit was to share a bit about St. Joseph Home.
Now that’s easy! To talk about the fullness of the SJH community is to; reflect the spectacular giftedness of the residents, highlight the coolest skilled staff in town, describe the dedication of families, promote the generosity of friends and on and on.
The SJH Community is here on Wyscarver Road, it’s throughout the neighborhood of Sharonville, it’s wherever you are sitting and reading this, it’s a warren of beauty, compassion and joy. The interconnectivity of our community and its far reaching impact is never as clear as it is over the winter holiday season. During this season many old friends return to visit, family from across the miles come home, gifts are shared, and memories are made. When St. Michael’s choir comes to SJH later this month to sing with the residents this will be true!
If I could sing well, I would welcome St. Michael’s School choir to SJH with my song – this is what I would sing to them….
Let us build a house where all are named,
their songs and visions heard
and loved and treasured, taught and claimed
as words within the Word.
Built of tears and cries and laughter,
prayers of faith and songs of grace,
let this house proclaim from floor to rafter.
All are welcome, all are welcome,
all are welcome in this place.
